Grade 8 Math
Twelve points ahead of the local area and above the statewide rate. Our 8th graders are among the strongest math students on the coast.
Knappa School District · Clatsop County, Oregon · 2025–26
Out here between the Columbia River and the timber, our students are beating the region in both reading and math, earning college credit, and graduating with real plans. Here is what our kids accomplished this year.
Dear Knappa families and neighbors,
Every year I get to watch our students do remarkable things, and every year I wish more of our community could see it. So this year we put it all on one page. Our 3rd graders outscored the region in reading, and our 8th graders beat both the region and the state in math. Our high schoolers earned 192 college credits before graduating. Our Class of 2026 earned $118,000 in scholarships and left with plans for universities, community colleges, the trades and military service. And our kids are painting, playing guitar, dancing, acting and building science projects along the way.
This is what a small district with big expectations looks like. I could not be prouder of our students, our staff, and the community that backs them.

The Knappa advantage
Our class sizes are small, which means teachers know every student by name, by strength and by goal. In a typical Knappa class there are 13 students. In our neighboring districts it is 19 to 22, and across Oregon it is 23. When a student needs a push or a hand, someone notices.
